Not much to write about at the moment. Have not been on the bike again yet. This Saturday will be four weeks since I crashed. Bike is still busted but progress is slowly moving on sorting that out. The new bike I am ready to order just waiting to gear if the frame is available.
Last weekend was boring as bat shit. Didn’t do anything all weekend. Went to the nurse after work Friday then went around the parents for a free feed.
Saturday morning I got up and went to the bell tower to see my SPR buddies. Was good to see everyone. Some I see four mornings a week and riding has been apart of my routine and it’s driving me bonkers not riding.
I have not had any pain from my elbow all week and don’t have to return to the nurse until next Tuesday so I am thinking I may pull out the mountain bike for a ride Saturday morning. A month off the bike is stupid.
Bennos birthday party Saturday night and going off last year it will be a big one. Looking forward to it.
So it has been almost three weeks no since my crash. I would like to say the time has gone fast but it hasn’t. It has been slow and drawn out. I have mostly healed an recovered from the crash itself. My hip is now 100% even though i still have the patch on it. I think I’ll remove it in the morning. Had no pain for a while and bruising has cleared up.
No riding though has been driving me insane. My elbow has not healed over yet. It’s not painful apart from if I bump it. Really wanted to get on the mountain bike this week just to ride.
Plan on going to the coffee shop tomorrow to see everyone. Have got all together in order to lodge the claim to fix the bike. First insurance claim of any type I ever made. New bike is almost ready to be ordered. Waiting on a written confirmation of frame size i require but appears I am not going to get one so will have to go with what I was verbally told.
Peter is off to brazil tomorrow and he had been the one compiling the list of parts for me. I’m so excited to get the new bike but right now all I want is to get back on the road. My fitness will have been hit for six I am sure. It’s going to be hard work when I do but i cant wait to get back on the bike and get out on the early morning rides with the group again.
Off the bike things have been looking up of late. Just a little. Not getting into details but life is good at the moment.
Bennos party next weekend so that is a big event to look forward to all week.
This week facebook released their updated facebook app on iPhone. In this update was a new facebook feature called places. Not only does facebook know everything about you and your friends already but now they want to know where you go. Services already fill this space such as foursquare. When you visit a location such as movies, coffee shop or where you buy your lunch you check in. Foursquare give you points for each check-in and over time you earn badges and mayorships.
As anyone who is friends with me on facebook I share some of my check-ins on twitter which automatically get posted to facebook. People then see where I am. I am happy with this as they might come and join me. Or as last night when I checked-in to the pub my friends were bitching I wouldn’t be riding in the morning.
However facebook want to erase the competition because from the video below they want to use your location to connect you with your friends. They are promoting this as a service to help you. It has nothing to do with gaining so much more information on you. knowing your location and the business you visit creates a mass more opportunity for facebook advertising. They then know where you go and what you like. The facebook experience becomes so much more tailored towards you. The approch facebook seem to have taken is they want to help you find your friends and make bumping into them much more likely.
Right now I don’t want to start giving facebook this information on me but if others start to do it I may do too. See what its usefulness is to you. But know what it is your handing over.
