2010 the year that was

Well with only a few hours of the year left and a couple of beers under the belt I should write a quick year in review. 2010 has been a great year overall. A lot of positives and not a lot of negatives. Cycling became a very large part of my life after going to my first SPR ride. I remember after my first novice ride that the following week could not come fast enough. If I had known then the commitment that laid ahead I think I still would have gone forward. I aim to cover over 300kms a week and a couple of weeks a month I hit this target. I managed to clock up over 11,000kms in 2010 and that was not a bad effort considering I had to have a forced seven week break because of my crash. But this lead to me forking out a lot of money on a real road bike. This purchase was by far the biggest of the year. But one I do not regret it for a second.

Following last Christmas internal family issues I have not seen a lot of my brother this year but at times we seem to get along so that is an improvement on this time last year.

Work. Well work was not in a great place this time last year either but thanks to some changes and some work things have finally turned around. There is still a lot to do but I don’t feel sick to get up on a work day any more. A lot to do this year but I have had a good break so at least I will return next week with a positive attitude.

Socially things have also been on the up and up in 2010. Met a few new people to talk to and hang out with. Jo and Fi are definitely up the top of that list and have become a couple of very good friends. Most recent new contact to my address book would be Sin who has helped to make my Christmas break anything but boring.

One activity that has been on the back bench this year though is my photography. I have not done anywhere near the number of photo shoots of random photography nights as I did in 2009. However John Harney has stepped up this year and really produced some good shoots. Do not tell him that though. Hopefully I can pick this up again and put the effort in again in 2011. What I did wasn’t bad I just haven’t done as much. No travel undertaken this year something I would like to do next year. December has been an awesome month for me. I could not have asked for a better end to the year. Work Xmas Party. Guns & Roses Concert, Birthday, tonight NYE and other random nights out. I can’t say its been cheap but I would not trade it for the world. I hope it continues in 2011. I plan on working on my attitude in 2011.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year.
